Other approaches to alternative suspension is restorative justice. Restorative justice is the use of making amends for the discretions to increase value in the time suspended. Though there is support that restorative justice has positive effects, it only scratches the surface of creating a beneficial relationship between the student and the suspension.
Our approach does not only teach the student important information about their transgressions through the courses, we use personalized therapy to address the underlying reason for the act itself. By processing through the deeper reasons and meanings for the student's act, they can learn coping skills and emotional regulation to help them understand why they are committing these acts. Understanding the reason behind the reason allows us to provide insight and support, not just about the action, but provide preventative solutions for the future.
